Saji Surendran’s upcoming flick Husbands in Goa will not only have a remixed version of the song ‘Pichakapoom kaavukalkkum…’ from No 20 Madras Mail but also a character from the same movie. Innocent who played the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) Narayanan Nadar in the movie reprises the same role in Husbands in Goa. If No 20… saw him having a jolly good time with Tony (Mohanlal) and his friends, played by Maniyan Pillai Raju and Jagadeesh in the train, in Husbands in Goa, he is giving good company to a group comprising actors Lal, Indrajith, Jayasurya and Asif Ali. The song has been remixed and sung by M.G. Sreekumar. The original was composed by Ouseppachan. The movie releases on September 21.
Thriller on the anvil
Cocktail and Ee Adutha Kaalathu director Arun Kumar Aravind’s third film, Left Right Left, for which he’s again teaming up with actor-scriptwriter Murali Gopy, is set to go on the floor in November. But Arun is already thinking further ahead, to his fourth film! “It’s an all out psychological thriller that has been written by scriptwriter Jeyamohan,” says Arun. Jeyamohan, who has written Tamil blockbusters such as Angadi Theru and Naan Kadvul, and Mani Ratnam’s new film Kadal, will be making his debut in Malayalam with Madhupal’s Ozhimuri. “I’ve always been a fan of Jeyamohan’s out-of-the-box stories and our film has a style of narrative that has never been seen in Malayalam cinema before,” adds Arun.

Gradually Malayalam cinema is moving beyond the borders of Kerala and India to explore stories of the Malayali Diaspora. Author and scenarist Jeyamohan is now in Africa with Vayalar Madhavan Kutty to develop his story for a movie that will be produced by Gokulam Movies and directed by Madhavan Kutty. “It is on Malayalis who settled in Africa and made it their home for a long time before political and economic reasons forced them to move to other countries to find a place of their own to put down roots,” says Jeyamohan.

After Ratinirvedam and Sita Kalyanam, veterans in the industry and long-time friends director T.K. Rajeevkumar and producer G. Suresh Kumar, get-together once again, this time for a “new generation film” that has ‘new-generation hero’ Fahadh Faasil in the lead. Says Suresh Kumar: “It’s based on the Malayalam novel Azadi written by author S. Mahadevan Thampi and it deals with terrorism. Apart from Kerala, the film will be shot in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and other major cities in India.”
