More on Singam-2

Director Hari's “Singam-2” is back in the news again. This time, for two reasons. One, the film, it seems, will feature not one but two comedians — Santhanam and Vivekh, and two, director Hari has plans to can some of the important action sequences in Kenya and South Africa. The film, which will be Hari and Suriya's fourth together, will have Hansika and Anushka playing the female leads. The music is to be scored by Devi Sri Prasad, who also composed the tunes for the first part of “Singam.”

Wondering what director Sasikumar has up his sleeve? Well, he's to play the lead in “Sundarapandian,” a film to be directed by team-mate and friend S. R. Prabhakaran. A source says, “Prabhakaran has been with Sasi right from the days of ‘Subramaniapuram.' Sasikumar plays the hero, while Lakshmi, who plays the lead in Prabhu Solomon's ‘Kumki,' is the heroine. Besides, Thenmerku Paruvakatru Sethu, “Azhagar Samiyin Kuthirai” fame Inigo, Appukutty and Suri play important roles.” The story, set in a rural backdrop, reportedly has all the essential components of a fun-filled entertainer. According to a source, “The story has only positive characters. Most of us don't realise it is only the situations that compel people to change and do things that are not in their nature. This is what the director seeks to stress in this film.” The source points out that Prabhakaran, who has worked in both “Subramaniapuram” and “Easan,” was with director S. D. Sabha before joining Sasi. “The unit is to start shooting in a day or two. They plan to shoot at Karaikudi, Kallal, Paganeri, Theni, Bodi and Munnar,” the source informs and adds that Sasi will play the role of a youngster who has just finished college.

Reason to smile

Popular television anchor Vijay Adhiraj is a delighted man today. For, the anchor-turned-actor has just realised his dream of becoming a director. Says Vijay with pride, “My film ‘Puthagam' is the culmination of a 14-year dream. I wrote the subject over 14 years ago. I have found an awesome producer in Dr. Ramadass, who was also the producer of “Yuvan Yuvathi.” He is currently producing GNR Kumaravelan's “Haridas” and “Endrendrum Punnagai” apart from my film.”

Arya's brother Satya plays the lead in this film along with Rakul Preet Singh. The film will also feature Vignesh of “Kadhalil Sodhappuvadu Eppadi” fame and Sanjay Krishna.

Says Vijay: “I am introducing an amazing dialogue writer Guhan Srinivasan with this film. Guhan has been an associate of Crazy Mohan. Lakshman, cameraman of ‘Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu,' will be the cameraman of ‘Puthagam,' while James Vasanthan will score the music.”

Another interesting aspect about Vijay's film, which is to begin shortly, is he has picked all his assistant directors through social networking sites such as Facebook.

Says Vijay with a smile, “None of them have any experience in filmmaking. All they have is a passion for the industry, commitment and a willingness to learn.” So, what does he promise about the film? Says Vijay: “I am someone who looks for entertainment when I purchase a ticket for Rs.120. I do not look for gyan or gory facts when I go to a movie. Just like how I want to be entertained, I am looking to give audiences who come to watch my film a good time.”
