Music director G. V. Prakash Kumar: I was happy to work again with director Vijay in his father’s production. For Saivam , I have used a variety of Carnatic ragas and folk tunes. A beautiful song rendered by Uthara Unnikrishnan, daughter of prominent singer Unnikrishnan, is a highlight of the album.
Music Highlights: The album has five numbers and the best is ‘Azhagu’ sung beautifully by Uthara Unnikrishnan in Kanadaa raga. There is an instrumental version of this Carnatic track by flautist Naveen Kumar which is equally mesmerising. The folksy ‘Kokkara Kozhi,’ sung by Chinna Ponnu, Gana Bala, Asvith, Harish and Aishwarya, which introduces rustic sounds such as the crowing of a rooster, is highly enjoyable. ‘Ore Oru Ooril’ in the haunting voice of Haricharan is sure to be liked by the listeners. ‘Moments of life’ is another instrumental track where the string instruments (the violins) make a great impact.
