As much as Parvathy Omanakuttan sizzles on the ramp, cinema is something that she would really like to put her slender foot in. However, after starring as David Billa’s Jasmine in Ajith’s Billa 2 , it’s been almost three years since any opportunity blossomed for Parvathy in Kollywood. “I would love to act in a Tamil movie, given a chance. I love the songs, dance sequences and plots; and director Mani Ratnam has been my all-time favourite. But, it really looks like the Tamil industry doesn’t miss me much!” she says, hiding her disappointment with a laugh.
The fashion industry, however, has its arms perpetually open for the 2008 Miss World first runner-up. She walked the ramp for the Madras Bridal Fashion Show in April; Chennai Fashion Week in July, Lakme Fashion Week in August, and most recently, the Volvo Cars Chennai International Fashion Week, as the showstopper for Touch Makeover Studio. “I have been associated with Storm Fashion Company (organisers of CIFW) for long now. It’s been wonderful to see them grow from a nascent stage to where they have reached now,” says Parvathy, on the sidelines of CIFW.

And just when we thought balancing cinema and fashion would have made her days real tight, she adds, “I am also planning to start a food-based venture!” As it turns out, the idea had been there for long — with her family being foodies, and her father having worked with a premier hospitality group for long. Log on to her Twitter page, and the love for food is evident. Caramelised banana and butterscotch, choco crepe and big pan pizzas get a generous mention. “We are still working on it, and will be launching something very soon,” she signs off.
