Launch of Nedunchalai

The audio launch of director N. Krishna’s Nedunchalai turned out to be a grand affair as A.R. Rahman was in attendance to wish him and his music composer C. Sathya lots of luck for the new flick. Remember, Rahman collaborated with Krishna for Sillunu Oru Kadhal and gave memorable tunes such as ‘Munbe Vaa’ and ‘Newyork Nagaram’? The trailer of Nedunchalai , which has not-so-popular actors in the lead, was praised by Rahman and A.R. Murugadoss, the other guest for the evening.

“It’s difficult to do quality work when you work on tight budgets. I can see (in the trailer) that Krishna has achieved the kind of quality that we have come to expect from a big-budget film,” said Rahman. The composer pointed out that funds are hard to come by if the team is new, even though the subject is good. “I am in talks to work in two or three films that have good subjects, but since the team is new, there is no budget to work with. In Bollywood, a film that has newcomers has 10 times more budget than in Tamil.”

Murugadoss, whose production house has previously worked with Sathya, insisted that the young composer speed up his ascent to the top. “It took a long time for me to work with Rahman. I hope Sathya takes inspiration from Rahman, and make sure that he takes big strides in his career,” he said.
