Nikhil and Swati on the sets of 'Swamy Ra Ra'

As one stepped on to the road leading to the swanky airport set at Ramoji Film City, one came across a young couple in an intimate conversation; of course under the watchful eyes of debut director Sudheer Varma. Satisfied with the result, the young filmmaker nodded at his cinematographer Richard Prasad, also a debutant. The young couple turned out to be upcoming hero Nikhil and Swati who shot to fame with Ashta Chemma and also made a mark in offbeat celluloid love stories in Tamil.

Nikhil is cast as a chimerical but naughty youngster who can trick his way in any situation. He has two accomplices – Pooja (a well known actress in Tamil cinema) and Satya (an up and coming actor). Swati plays the role of a final year Mass Communications student in a city college.

“It is their first meeting that we are shooting now; how this meeting has happened and how their friendship develops into a relationship form an interesting part of this romance and action entertainer,” said Sudheer Varma. Once the shot is over he orders‘pack up’ for the day’s shoot. The movie is in its second schedule.

Ravi Babu plays the antagonist who is after a valuable ancient idol from a temple. How his efforts are thwarted by our young hero and his friends forms the central theme. “The engrossing incidents take us to various locations in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Apart from the talkie part, we have also planned to shoot a couple of songs in these locations, in our next schedule that commences from September 20.” The current schedule, he said will last till September 7 at RFC and other parts of the city.

Sunny, the film’s music director is also making his debut. He was the chief sound engineer for Bollywood composer Preetham. “Our cinematographer Richard Prasad is a gold medallist from the Adyar Film Institute (rechristened as MGR Govt. Film and Television Institute), Chennai. I chose him after watching the short films and advertisement shorts he had made,” said Sudheer Varma who had earlier worked as a co-director for the banner’s Nikhil starrer, Veedu Theda. “It is a thorough entertainer and a paisa vasool movie,” concludes the young director. Producer Chakri Chigurupati is planning to release the movie in November.
