The success of ‘Poolarangadu' is an icing on the cake for Sunil who's revelling in his newly acquired six-pack abs, writes Y. Sunita Chowdhary

enjoying success ‘Poolarangadu’ is a defining moment in Sunil’s career

Sunil is having the time of his life, going around television studios, giving interviews and talking in detail as to how he worked hard on his six-pack for Poolarangadu .

He has worked three long years on his body and everything fell in place — the story, his role and the climax where he rips off his shirt to intimidate the baddies. The glistening look as he flexes his muscles is drawing whistles from a euphoric crowd and they are lapping up every moment of his heroic stunts. The comedian has now become a full fledged commercial hero and it is indeed a defining moment in his career.

Now that he is done with gulping egg whites, is he finally celebrating with sweets?

He says, “Actually I never curbed my cravings, whenever I felt like I would eat one on the sly and would tell my coach to make me work extra hard. Big deal, it's all about melting that fat. A lot of people are saying that I applied oil on the body for that scene, I did not. It was sweat and the buffering one uses in a body building competition when you are about to show off the body.I would shuttle around three gyms, all these three years to get this 6 pack. My coach sculpted me.”

Aiming big

The actor says henceforth all he needs to do is to select good stories, maintain the body and aim to do more entertaining films like Govinda. But did he expect this film to do wonders for him, as the six pack was actually intended for the remake of

He quips, “Never mind, for Tanu Weds Manu remake, I will work on a far higher voltage. My mother told me even before the morning show wound up that the film was a hit in Dubai. To be honest, I'm just relieved and the tension is over. We all come here to compete and win but if we make it a goal and get obsessed with just that, then we won't be able to reach it. I didn't expect this kind of result. I thought I would be a happy man if I get half of what I got in Andhala Ramudu .”

Everything about the film is fine but why does he make a comedy out of romance and what would he do if he were offered a love story?

“I can never look into a heroine's eyes, for that chocolate song I tried too hard and it turned out to be a joke. I get really jittery as I've never prepared myself for such scenes. Love stories? It is like working in a blue film for me... tension vocchestundhi . But I will do rehearsals next time onwards.”
