Luv Sinha didn’t have a dream debut with Sadiyaan (2010), but the man is all set to erase that memory. “It’s difficult definitely. But I suppose it was more difficult for me to wait for this long for the right projects to come along,” says Luv. Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha’s elder son is not just acting in two upcoming films but also giving the family’s banner, Shotgun Movies, an impetus. The veteran actor-turned-MP earlier had a production banner named Ramayan Chitra, which produced films such as Kotwal Saab (1977), Vishwanath (1978), Kalka (1983) and Maati Maange Khoon (1984). Poonam started Shotgun Movies later. “I wouldn’t call this a revival of the home banner. With a new generation, fresher ideas come in and that’s all I want to do.”
With sister Sonakshi super busy in her own space and brother Kush inclined towards direction, Luv says he is ready to do the foundation work. He is meeting scriptwriters, directors and actors to make sure Shotgun Movies gets rolling once again. “I wouldn’t want to say that I am at the thick of things around here, but someone’s got to do it. Personally, I want to be an actor. But I won’t act in all the films under our banner!” he says.
The first movie being worked on is Umesh Shukla’s untitled thriller, which has Luv playing the lead role, and that is expected to go on floors next year. “Umesh will first wrap up his film with Abhishek (Bachchan) and then start this one. It’s a thrilling, fast-paced and intelligent film. What I like about Umesh is he doesn’t throw logic out of the window,” he says.

Another film that Luv is doing is Ekta Kapoor’s, which is under wraps. “You know that Ekta likes to keep her projects under cover and then gives it a big bang release. There is one more film I am signing subject to the director bringing a certain technical team that he has promised on board. But I will make that announcement in a few weeks’ time. Hopefully!” he smiles.
With regard to his past experience on screen, Luv says, “It has made me wiser. Even though Sadiyaan was my debut, I could sense something amiss in it. When we were shooting I had a feeling that it was going wrong but you wouldn’t want to leave a project halfway. Especially when you are a star kid, people start saying that you are throwing your weight around. So I played along. But now I look for a good story, production values and a sound technical team,” he says.
