Farooq Shaikh buried in Mumbai

Film actor Farooq Shaikh was buried in Mumbai on late on Monday night, in presence of his fans, co-actors and many members from the film fraternity.

Among the people who paid their last tributes to the actor were well-known lyricist Javed Akhtar, actor Dipti Nawal, Shabana Azmi, Farhan Akhtar, Tabbu, Shekhar Suman, Rahul Bose, Anupam Kher and Johny Lever along with social activist Teesta Setalwad and politician Subodh Kant Sahay.

"Stars like him are born very rarely and chance to be his co-star is rarer," said Ms. Naval, who has acted in number of films with the Shaikh.

Earlier his body was brought from Dubai to Mumbai on Monday evening and was kept at his residence in Andheri in suburban Mumbai for people to pay their last tributes.

Shaikh suffered a heart attack on Friday in Dubai, where he was visiting with his family. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Born on March 25, 1948, Sheikh contributed in theatre, films and TV as well. He started his career in 1973 with a film Garm Hawa and is best remembered for his performances in films like Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Chashme Buddoor, Kissi Se Na Kehna, Noorie.
