Madras girl gets busy

First seen by Tamil filmgoers in Pa. Ranjith’s Madras , Catherine Tresa Alexander is currently busy with Kanithan opposite Atharva and Rudhramadevi opposite Allu Arjun. “My next film, Veera Theera Sooran under the direction of Shankar Dayal N, has just been launched,” says Catherine, who plays a stylish, city-bred girl. “I am paired with Vishnu Vishal in this film, which is based on director Suseenthiran’s story. I will be joining the unit on June 5 for the shoot. Simultaneously, I am working on director Selvaraghavan’s untitled film in which Simbu plays the lead,” says Catherine.

Horror hour

With the short film movement picking up momentum in Kollywood, directors Karthik-Vignesh are launching their sixth initiative, strategically titled

666 . Their last short, Magic , won the first prize at last year’s IIT Saarang and was subsequently sent to several international short film festivals. “ 666 is a 42-minute short horror film. Produced by Big Bang Pictures, in association with R. Pictures, the story begins with a police officer who stumbles upon a murder case. The investigation leads him to believe that somewhere between science and superstition, there exists another world — the world of darkness. Nobody expected it; nobody believed it and nobody could stop it,” says Karthik. 666 is being officially launched with a screening at AVM Preview Theatre today at 4 p.m.

Who is Muthukumar?

Mixing comedy and suspense, director M. Padmanabhan has come up with a unique film, titled

Muthukumar Wanted , involving a girl and an unseen suitor. “The heroine Anandhi (Nashira) has been receiving gifts since childhood from a mysterious person, who goes by the name Muthukumar. All her attempts to trace him fail. When she is on the verge of getting married, she receives a box with a note, saying she could meet Muthukumar at the airport to collect the key, failing which she could travel to Malaysia where he is headed to, and get the key. Anandhi rushes to the airport only to find that the flight has left. Five days before her wedding, she decides to travel to Malaysia to look for Muthukumar (Saran S.K.). Does she find him? Yes, she finds five of them! What follows is sure to keep you glued,” says Padmanabhan.
