She is a proper Chennai girl, but Saaraa Chetti got her break in a Hindi film, Jaat, scheduled for release soon. A gangster film with revenge as its crux, Jaat stars Akhilesh Varma as the hero and Saaraa as one of the two heroines. “In fact, it was he who suggested that I take up this offer while I was waiting for my first Tamil film to roll,” says Saaraa. “The Tamil film, Ayyanar Veethi , is on the floors and I am paired with Yuvan in it; I play a typical Brahmin girl, a college student. I can’t reveal much about my character or the story, except saying that actor-director Bhagyaraj plays my father and Meera Krishnan, my mother,” says Saaraa.

Director Pugalendhiraj’s premise for his film, Manam Konda Kadhal , is that love is not just an emotion two individuals experience before marriage, but it is what binds them after it. Raj has introduced Muthuram, Nofiya and Shriya in the main roles for his debut offering. Says Pugalendhiraj, the elder son of veteran actor G. Dhanapal who has acted in over 500 films with almost all the stars of the Tamil screen: “ Manam Konda Kadhal is a romantic family drama with all the necessary ingredients to make it commercially viable. The experience I have gained under directors such as Kalaimani and Anbazhagan has helped me come up with this script. The film is awaiting censor certificate and I hope to release it shortly.”
