Straddling three worlds

Many up-and-coming actors would give their right arm to do what Rishi is doing. He straddles three worlds — the stage, the big and the small screens — with ease, and has made a mark for himself. Recently, Rishi was seen as the lead in The Madras Players’ A Temporary Matter in The Hindu ’s Theatre Fest. He has just completed hosting 46 episodes of Kayyil Oru Kodi on Sun TV. And, his movie Nandanam is in the post-production stage. Rishi plays a character with negative shades. So, what’s next? “My next film is Iruvar Ullam , in which I play the second hero. We are going to San Francisco shortly to shoot a schedule. The film is directed by Ramesh who was the cameraman of films such as Thiruda Thirudi . Meanwhile, talks are on for another movie. That will be really offbeat and I am looking forward to the experience,” says Rishi.

Screen debut

The fashion and airline industries are verdant hunting grounds for new faces. Being an airhostess and a model brought Yugaa to the notice of talent scouts in the film industry. On her part, Yugaa has always desired to make it to the silver screen. That dream has come true with her signing

Annam for director Karthikeyan. Says Yugaa: “I am thrilled at this opportunity. The script is quite interesting with my character being that of a village girl. We have already completed 15 days of shoot in Ooty. My experience doing commercials and working in the airline industry has helped me handle the scenes confidently.”

A newcomer couldn’t have asked for more. Subiksha is excited about her village girl role in veteran director Bharatiraja’s

Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum . “I am a classical dancer and started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of three. My joy knew no bounds when I got selected for a role in Bharatiraja’s film. He is a legend and it is a great responsibility for me to deliver,” says Subiksha who acts alongside Karthika, Manoj and Lakshman in the film.
