Model-turned-actor Angana Roy, who plays the female lead in the upcoming Ragalaipuram, is excited about the projects on hand

Actor Angana Roy's first Tamil movie Ragalaipuram , a full-fledged comedy with Karunas, hasn't yet hit the screens and already, she has bagged lead roles in three more Tamil films — sure signs that she has the potential to make it big in Kollywood.

The actor, who quit her job as HR Manager in a top corporate last year to take up acting full time, says, “I modelled for some time. Then, a friend suggested that I should get into acting.”

Although the camera and limelight were not completely new to Angana, films were a totally new ball game. “I am not someone who eats, drinks or sleeps films, but I have a passion for them. Anyway, if things don't work, I can always fall back on my education,” says the lady, who has a Masters in Business Administration (Finance) under her pretty belt.

It didn't take long for Kollywood to notice Angana, whose father has a passion for theatre and is known to have worked with several reputed Bengali theatre companies. Says the actor, “Karunas and Manohar were looking for a new face. They happened to see a small clip of mine in which I have portrayed different emotions. They were impressed and within a week, I was on board.”

Ragalaipuram is a film about two cops, one brave and the other timid. Karunas plays the timid cop. Angana has shot one-fourth of the film and has another 20 days to go to complete her part.

Ragalaipuram was just the beginning. She soon signed up for

Kapadam produced by Chozha Creations. “Sachin (of

Yathumagi fame) plays the hero and Jyothi Murugan, an assistant of Radhamohan, is directing the film,” she says, before slowly revealing that she is also shooting for a film produced by A. R. Murugadoss.

“Yes, I am working in Murugadoss' film in which he is launching his brother. I play one heroine, while Anjali plays the other. Almost 70 per cent of the film is done. I play a very rich girl whose dad is an income tax officer. It's almost the same team that did Engeyum Eppodhum .”

That's not all. Angana is also slated to work with Kushal, an associate of director Balaji Sakthivel, on a heroine-oriented film. “I play a strong girl. It's a journey of two people and their lives. I was asked to enact a scene and was selected a couple of days later.”
