Thiruvalluvar Kalaikoodam’s Saravana Poigai is produced by K. Parthiban and S. Tamilselvi and the story, dialogue, screenplay and direction are by V. Sekar. The lead players are S. Karl Marx and Arundhathi. The story is about the hard work, honesty and truthfulness of a theatre worker in Palani. He falls in love with the theatre owner’s daughter, giving scope for an engaging climax. The audio was launched by director Bharathiraja and received by K. Bhagyaraj. The movie trailer was released by directors Keyar and Vikraman and received by director K.S. Ravikumar.

There are six songs in the album. ‘Enna Solla’ written by Na. Muthukumar and sung by Gana Bala wins hands down. The same lyricist’s ‘Kaadhal Sonnaaaye,’ sung by Haricharan and Priya Hemesh, is impressive. Kavinpa has written three songs — while ‘Andavanin Padaipil’ sung by the music director, and ‘Singari Seer Kondu’ by Chinmayi are good, Velmurugan and Anitha Iyer do a neat job of ‘Paatha Unnathan’. Pushpavanam Kuppusamy has written and sung ‘Oru Sevathaponnu Karuthapaiyana.’

Director V. Sekar: After giving several family and social hits such as Neengalum Herothaan, Naan Pudicha Maapilai, Pondatti Sonna Kettukkanum, Onna Irukka Kathukkanum, Porantha Veeda Pugundha Veeda, Varavu Ettanaa Selavu Paththanaa, Kaalam Maari Pochu and Viraluketha Veekam , this is my 18th venture — a love story with a village backdrop. My son Karl Marx plays the hero. Usually, my films have a liberal dose of comedy and Saravana Poigai is no exception — Vivek, Karunaas, M.S. Bhaskar and Harathi have made it a laugh riot. Besides, a social message is woven into the screenplay.
Hero Karl Marx: After completing BE and MBA, I was in a dilemma whether to take up a job or reveal my interest in films to my father. When I spoke to him I was simply surprised to learn that he was also keen on making me an actor. That was when I started undergoing training in acting, dance and stunts. Shooting for Saravana Poigai was a great experience as I could learn a lot from seasoned artistes such as Vivek and Karunaas.
Music director D. Vijay: I started my career as a singer and have performed in more than 1000 shows. My first film as a music director is Kottai which is yet to hit the screens. The various situations in the screenplay of Saravana Poigai helped me come up with a range of tunes — folk, melody, pathos and gana.
