Shilpa Motion Works’ Madisaar Maami is a family entertainer focussing on the hardships women face and the problems of the girl child in our society. The story centres around three families and a cunning magician with ulterior motives. Produced by Vivek Dixit and Sushant Gandroo, the film is directed by Ranjith Bose, who has also written the screenplay and taken care of the editing. Mithun and Mansi play the lead roles; the other important performances are by Ravi Prakash, Rishi Bhoodani, Mumbai Gayathri and Puneeth Ishaar. The music is scored by L.V.Ganesh, the camera is handled by Kapil K.Goutham, the story and dialogues are by Ravi Prakash, the dances are choreographed by Easwar Babu, and the stunts by Buta Singh. The audio CD was released by Muktha Srinivasan and the first copy was received by Kalaipuli Thanu in the presence of P.L.Thenappan, S.V.Sekar and producer V.Ramdas.

‘Manathilay Aasai Nooru Nooraga’, sung by Karthik and written by Yugabharathi, is interesting. ‘Rukku Rukku Rukku’ by the same lyricist, is sung by Udit Narayanan and Kavitha Subramaniam. A highlight of this number is its different rhythmic structure, and the use of traditional instruments such as nadaswaram and veena. ‘Tring Tring Sathham Ketta’, sung by Naresh Iyer and written by MuthuVijayan, is a fusion of Carnatic and rock and roll. The same lyricist has penned ‘Naan Poorantha Oorukulla’, which is sung by Malathi. With its folk feel and its western beat, this is indeed a foot-tapping number. ‘Paal Vasam Veesum’, rendered by Madhubalakrishnan and written by Palani Bharathi is based on the raga Mayamalavagowda. It traverses three octaves, showcasing the singer’s vocal range; the highlight is the orchestration of strings and solo violin.

Producers Viivek Dixit and Sushant Gadroo: Viivek and I are film producers. While I have produced many thought-provoking films in Marathi and Hindi, Sushant has produced successful experimental films in Kannada. Both of us have now come together to try our luck in a new market with a feature in Tamil. Despite the production challenges, we have succeeded in completing the film according to schedule and within the allocated budget. We believe the film will help change social perceptions.

Director Ranjith Boss: I have a decade of experience in filmmaking in multiple disciplines in Mumbai. I have worked on feature and non-feature projects as editor and director. I have edited some big-budget films too. This is my first film in Tamil. I learnt to read and write Tamil, mainly to do this project. I stayed in Saligramam, Chennai, for a while, to learn and keep abreast of the latest trends in filmmaking. I believe filmmakers should realise there’s a greater purpose to their profession than just commercial success. That’s what I hope to prove with this film.

Hero Mithun Tejaswi: I have been acting in south Indian films since 1999, but never got a suitable role to prove my mettle. In Madisaar …, I play the title role of Mama, a pujari and father of five. In spite of a loving wife, Mama is a carefree and flirtatious character who is constantly looking to get rich quick, irrespective of the consequences. I’ve done quite a few modern roles in the past, but this is the first time I essay the character of a south Indian orthodox Brahmin.

Music Director L.V. Ganesan: I am the son of music director late L.Vaithyanathan and am a sound engineer. I have been actively involved in recent albums such as ‘Gently for You’ and ‘Explosions-2’. I composed the music for

Suzhal , and am currently working on

Panivizhum Nilavu, Athiyum Anthamum and

Pramugar in Tamil and a few Telugu films. When I heard the storyline I was convinced by its social message and liked the humour too. Hence, I worked hard to come up with memorable tunes.
