Director Vikram Rajini’s Senbaga is based on a real incident that took place in a village. “I have shot the film in some parts of Chidambaram, Sethiathoppu, Thiruvaiyaru and Pinnalur. I have tried to retain the typical village atmosphere without the modern influences to ensure that the film looks authentic. Senbaga features new faces Madhan, Bhagya Sri, Nandhini and Appu along with Punitham, Arul, Dinesh and Gnanamani. Besides, there will be love, action and an unexpected twist in the climax. Senbaga is about initiating social change.”

Irandam Ulagam audio release today

Director Selvaraghavan’s much-awaited Irandam Ulagam featuring Arya and Anushka is into post production. Meanwhile, the audio CD of the film is being released today at 9 a.m. at Satyam Cinemas. Music director Harris Jayaraj has recorded six songs besides the theme music. The highlight of the album is the song by Selvaraghavan’s brother Dhanush. The other singers featured on the CD are Hariharan, S. P. Balasubramaniam, Vijay Prakash, Shaktisree Gopal and Gopal Rao. Vairamuthu has written all the songs in the album which was recorded in Harris’ studio and mastered in the U.S. The release function will be graced by a host of film personalities and there will be spirited performances by some of the singers too. The trailer of Irandam Ulagam will also be released. Says Selvaraghavan: “Music is integral to my movie but I am beyond just including it for the sake of entertainment. I cannot see myself directing a love duet or a dance sequence anymore. Songs have to take the story forward and in Irandam Ulagam I think I have managed to achieve this.”

Playing the lead

Two small roles in Kuttipuli and Attakathi have helped Abi Saravanan land the lead role in Kerala Nattilam Pengaludane ( KNP ). Directed by S. S. Kumaran of Theneer Viduthi fame, KNP is a bilingual in Malayalam and Tamil. “I play Unnikrishnan in this romantic comedy, which has a storyline alternating between Tamil Nadu and Kerala. I am thoroughly enjoying my first full-fledged lead role. KNP has three heroines — Gayathri, Abirami and Deekshita. We have already shot for 65 days. Incidentally, the unit has spent a year shooting several traditional events in and around Kerala to be incorporated into the film. This is bound to make the film interesting for both language audiences,” says Abi Saravanan. Incidentally, director Kumaran is also the producer and music director of the film. Poo
