The album has 10 tracks, including four short ones. Seven are written by the director himself. They are ‘Kattumaram,' ‘Kadalodu,' ‘Muthe muthe,' ‘Uthu uthu,' ‘Sumaithangi,' ‘Nenjil' and ‘Ariyaamal.' ‘Kattumaram' sung by Mahalakshmi Krishnan has a sweet opening. ‘Kadalodu,' sung by N. Srinivasan, Deepank, G.J. Siva, Sreeraghav and Chandrayee, is the theme song — it contains the chant of the fisher folk, ‘Thaiyara thaiya'. This short number instantly conjures up images of the sea and the sand. The ghatam beats in ‘Muthe muthe,' sung by Vijay Jesudoss, make it sound like a rural song; however, the humming in the last stanza lends it a semi-classical touch. ‘Uthu Uthu' is a sensuous number sung by Maya Sricharan and Chandrayee. ‘Sumaithangi' sung beautifully by Madhu Balakrishnan has lines that evoke positive thoughts. ‘Nenjil' sung by Ganeshraghu is nice. ‘Ariyaamal' by Chandrayee is a short number that's sure to go down well with the listeners. ‘Adhisayam,' sung by Prasanna and written by Palanibharathi, is a short number — the sound of the flute at the end of the song lingers in your mind for quite some time. The same lyricist has penned the kuthu song, ‘Takara Takara,' sung by Mukesh and Chinnaponnu. Here Chinnaponnu has rendered the pallavi, a tongue-twister, with supreme ease. The peppy title number, written by Seergazhi Sirpi and sung by Mukesh and Feji, has several kids providing choral support. What they say…

Hero Dilipan:Sembattai is my debut flick and I have done what the director has told me to do. I have appeared in insignificant roles in various films, but this is my first major role. I learnt a lot, acting in the film. Music director Sreeraghav: This is my first feature film. I enjoyed the challenges the script posed. After being a composer for jingles, I am happy to have landed this film. A lot of hard work has gone into the songs as well as the background score. I hope the audience likes my work.
