There are five tracks in the album. The first one, ‘Excuse Me, Sir,’ written by Karthik Netha and sung by Mano, is the best. The fusion of Chinese percussion and American guitar is bound to provide an all-new experience to the listeners. ‘Hey Crazy Penne,’ written and sung by the music director himself, is a peppy number with an interesting interlude. Here Irish percussion instruments are juxtaposed with our traditional pakhawaj and ghatam. Another version of this song, ‘O Crazy Minnal,’ comes in Andrea Jeremiah’s sensuous voice. This has been recorded with a different arrangement — acoustic guitars and bass, played by Keba Jeremiah, predominate. BeBot synth app has also been used to enhance the texture of the song, written by Karthik Netha. ‘Omelette Potta’ has been written by fans of the film on Facebook — they were asked to come up with quirky one-liners in sync with the movie’s theme. This tongue-twister of a song will surely be a trendsetter. ‘Medulla Oblongata,’ the theme song set in a chromatic scale with Latin accordions, backed by Indian folk drums and a hypnotising sound design, is the backbone of the track.

Director Balaji Tharaneetharan: I finished a course in editing at the Chennai Film Institute, Taramani. Then I made two short films which got me a number of awards. I wrote the dialogue for Varnam and Yen Ippadi Mayakinai . When I wanted to make my own film, cameraman Premkumar suggested we make one based on an incident that happened in his life to which Bhagavathi, a mutual friend, and I were witness. The screenplay that I did had a liberal dose of comedy.

Hero Vijay Sethupathi: I appeared in Nan Mahan Alla, Lee and Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu in small roles. I was delighted to land the lead role in the award-winning Thenmerku Paruvakkatru . This is the second film where I am playing the protagonist. We rehearsed for a month with a bound script. It helped us all master the dialogue and body language. Music director Ved Shankar: I am a qualified sound engineer and sound designer. A student of maestro A. R. Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory, I was one of 15 students selected from across the world for training in western classical music at North Eastern University, Boston. The programme was fully funded by the U.S. Department of State. I have been nominated for the prestigious META award for Most Innovative Sound Design 2012. I did MBA at IIPM, Chennai. After my first film, Paalai , I am waiting for the release of my second film, NKPK, and Madhubbana Kadai .
