There are five songs in the album and all have been written and sung by newcomers. ‘Pasanga,’ written by R. Ganesh and sung by Adithya, the music director and Raj Balaji, is easily the best. ‘Penne Un Padal,’ written by the music director and Malavika and sung by Srividya, R. Ganesh and S. Adhiya, comes a close second. ‘Kavi Paadum’ is above average and it is written by Prince Magus and sung by R. Akshya. ‘En Kadhal Solla’ in Sankarabharanam is enjoyable; it is penned by S. Adithya and sung by K. Pradeep. ‘Uravugal Ayiram,’ written and sung by Raj Balaji with S. Adithya, is an interesting number.

What they say…

Producer and director 5th Channel Ramanathan : I am basically a distributor and it’s at the instance of my friend, director Erode Murugesh, with whom I discuss filmmaking from time to time, I have taken up direction. I wanted my directorial debut to be a love story with revenge interwoven into it.

Hero Rakesh: After Ramanathapuram , Vanjam is my second film. Right from a young age, I was interested in acting. Director Ramanathan, who saw my picture, called me over to his office and outlined the story which I liked. The next day I was on board the project. We have finished canning two songs. I feel Vanjam will make me a popular hero in the Tamil film industry.

Music director Siva Shashank: I am a final year EEE student at the Meenakshi College of Engineering, Chennai. I have scored the music for 20 short films. I happened to meet director Ramanathan in a recording theatre when he expressed his wish to do a film with youngsters. I am happy that my songs have got a lot of appreciation from those who have heard them.
