Aakasame Haddu - Love guru weaves the magic

September 10, 2011 07:22 pm | Updated 07:22 pm IST

'Akasame Hadhu' comes with a message

A bespectacled and anintelligent poor student Narayana (Rajeev) is rebuffed by Kirti (Panchi Bora) and the former like in all love stories wants to kill himself. He is counselled by a stranger, a love guru Karthik (Navdeep) and makes attempts to woo her.

“Just like the waiter brings a lifeless chicken fried and decorated with silver paper and is made to look appealing with the vegetables and dressing so should men spring with life, look suave and exude finesse to attract the opposite sex,” says Karthik and Narayana discards his glasses, gets into T shirts and snips his hair. Most of the film goes on this way and Narayana succeeds in flooring Kirti but one day Karthik demands his guru dakshina. He wants Narayana's girlfriend Kirti and the young man's story is back to square one.

There have been many stories on students deviating from their studies, their subsequent failure and retribution but the director has understood the complexities and confusions of youth and tackled it in an engaging manner and as a bonus has passed on a constructive message.

Navdeep hogs the show with his charm and one liners. Panchi Bora is gorgeous and slips easily into the role of a two timer.

The story revolves basically around Rajeev Saluri, he is most of the time given to portray a glum look but has shown vast traces of improvement in expressions and dance from his previous films, also the role appears tailor made for him. Both the boys have shared good chemistry and the fresh combination keeps the story moving. Enough care has been taken to see that the film doesn't turn overtly sentimental though Bhanu Chander and Pragati who play Narayana's parents threaten to wreak melodrama.

Music is a huge asset and complements the romance well.

Not a bad watch at all and if you want to know why the film has been titled Aakasame Haddu (The sky's the limit), it is imperative that you wait till the film finishes.
