Rajesh Kannamkara's 'Ithu Nammude Katha' is yet another film on friendship.

Yeh Dosti: Abhishek, Asif Ali and Nishan

Films featuring the young stars of Mollywood seem to be clicking at the box office. So it is no wonder that debutant director Rajesh Kannamkara's movie ‘Ithu Nammude Katha' features some actors of this youth brigade.

Asif Ali and Nishan, who shot to fame with ‘Ritu' and the recent ‘Apoorvaragam,' are facing the camera again with Abhishek and Kottayam Nazeer. The location for the day is a small bridge close to a boat jetty at Kavalam, near Changanasherry.

Ananya plays the heroine in the film and the cast includes Kailash, Jagathy Sreekumar, Lalu Alex, Suraj Venjarammood, Biju Menon, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Nimisha and Amala Paul.

“The movie is about a group of friends living in a sleepy village in Kuttanad. Vinod (Asif), Santhosh (Nishan) and Kochumon (Abhishek) play these friends who dream of a bright future. Mahesh (Vineethkumar) joins their group and things then take an unexpected turn,” says Rajesh, who has directed a few serials and has written the script for this film.

New stars of Mollywood

He adds: “It is their friendship that we are focussing on. We are planning to include all the new faces of Mollywood, perhaps in cameo roles or as part of a song sequence.”

Cinematographer Vipin Mohan has climbed on top of a crane in an attempt to get the right angles. As the crew gets ready with the arrangements for the next scene, Asif says: “My character gives a lot of importance to friendship. He is desperately trying for a government job so that he can impress his cousin Kalyani's parents.”

In addition to Kuttanadu, the locations for ‘Ithu Nammude Katha' include Pollachi and Gundalpettu. Lyrics by Santhosh Varma have been set to music by Mohan Sithara. Still photographer is Premlal.
