Sunil Shetty is back with a couple of comedies this year — the Indra Kumar-produced Daddy Cool and his Hera Pheri director Priyadarshan’s De Dhana Dhan.
In an interview, he talks about his movies and why they will appeal to all. Hera Pheri was a high spot in your career. Is Daddy Cool in the same league?
As an actor, the comedy that has given me the maximum satisfaction after Hera Pheri is Daddy Cool. The entire cast, especially Prem Chopra, is absolutely wonderful. In the same manner that people enjoyed Babu Bhayya (played by Paresh Rawal) in Hera Pheri, they will enjoy Prem Chopraji in Daddy Cool.

What is different about Daddy Cool?
No Bollywood movie has yet been made on a funeral, but Daddy Cool has been handled with sensitivity by Murli Sir.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with the production house. We completed the film in 25-26 days, and the atmosphere on the sets was cool.

Is the movie inspired by Death At A Funeral ? The emotions here have been handled better than in Death At A Funeral.
What is your character in the film like?
I play Steven Lazarus; the eldest son. He believes he will be giving the farewell speech but since the younger brother (Ashish Chowdhary) is a reputed writer, the family thinks he should give the speech. There are all kinds of people who come to the funeral, a few who did not want to come, some who were deeply attached to the person, etc. This makes up Daddy Cool.
Who do you think is the coolest daddy in Bollywood?
There are many cool daddies, but the coolest dad and granddad will have to be Amitji.
