Shot Cuts: Green signal for Maattrraan

Suriya’s eagerly-awaited film, Maattrraan , in which he plays conjoined twins has been cleared by the Censor Board with a U certificate. Directed by K. V. Anand, the film, which features Kajal Aggarwal in the female lead, will hit screens on October 12. Sources say that the film will release with over 1,400 theatre prints all over world. Meanwhile, the team is doing everything possible to kindle curiosity about the film. They have not released any trailers of the film so far. Anand recently tweeted, “Friends, why do you need a theatrical trailer when you can see the film in a week? Thirty-second teasers will be on TV channels.”

Enthiran which featured Rajini and Aishwarya Rai in the lead, at the box office. Saxena, who has now started his own production company, intends to make another film with Rajinikanth and has made an impressive offer to the superstar. “It’s true I have submitted a proposal to the superstar just like several other producers who are eager to work with him. He is mulling over the offer and we are waiting for a response from him.

Enthiran ’s record of Rs. 210 crore is yet to be broken and I can say with confidence that I will be able to better it with this project. I also intend to cast Telugu star Ram Charan in the film.” The producer, who says that everything else will fall in place after the superstar gives his nod, has director K. V. Anand in mind to helm the project. “I think he can do justice to this project and his dates are available,” says Saxena.

Bollywood beckons

Director Seenu Ramasamy’s National award-winning film Thenmerku Paruvakaatru is likely to be remade in Hindi. “It’s too early to talk about it but yes, we are seriously considering making the film in Hindi. We have approached Vivek Oberoi for the son’s role and Shabana Azmi for the mother’s role,” says Ramasamy. However, the director, is at the moment busy with his next Tamil film, Neer Paravai . “The film has turned out well and cleared by the Censor Board with a U. The audio launch of the film will take place on October 10. After that, I intend to make another Tamil film and then, begin work on the Hindi remake of Thenmerku Paruvakaatru ,” says the director.

Calling for trouble

Director Saravanan, whose hit film Engeyum Epodhum made him immensely popular, has changed his mobile number. When quizzed about it, he replied with a laugh, “While writing the script, I wanted every aspect of the story to be as close as possible to reality. So, I chose to use my mobile number as Ananya’s number in the film. Likewise, I used my assistant’s mobile number for Jai. Many of those who watched the movie started making calls on Ananya’s phone number in the film. While I received several calls asking for Ananya, my assistant was tired of replying to Jai’s female fans. So I forced to change my number.” Saravanan will next direct actor Vikram Prabhu. “Shooting will begin by the end of this month,” he says.
