Simplicity is Dhanush's route to sizzle. Going by his recent hat trick of box-office draws “Polladhavan”, “Yaarade Nee Mohini” and “Padikathavan”, it looks like this frippery-free actor has clinched his own formula to success. As “Kutty” hits the screens today, Kollywood's man for all reasons — action, dance and sentiment, is in top gear. “It's typically Dhanush, with a refreshing treatment though,” he chuckles.
In “Kutty”, directed by Mitran Jawahar of sleeper hit “Yaaradi Nee Mohini” fame, Dhanush teams with Shriya Saran for the second time. Their crackling on-screen chemistry rocked the box office in “Thiruvilaiyadal Arambham” way back in 2006. Talking about “Kutty” in-between shooting for his next film, “Aadu Kalam”, Dhanush says, “It's a romantic comedy that's different in the way the characters are etched and the subject is packaged. The screenplay is a certain plus point too. A clean entertainer, ‘Kutty' is created with the family audience in mind.”
The film, he adds, evokes a positive feeling. “It's about this lowly character who has the grit to make everything work for him.” And yes, like in his earlier works, Dhanush will scorch the screen with some sprightly dances. “Composer Devi Sri Prasad has come up with a mixed bag of melodies, folk and Western music-inspired numbers.”

Talk about his signature lexicon of comedy, and the actor gushes, “It's not easy doing comedy. I learnt a lot from my directors. From dialogue delivery to body language, they've helped me evolve. And I try to do a bit of comedy in my films because humour is a nice way to reach out to the audience. It makes film goers forget everything and enjoy those few hours in the theatre.”
Though we think “Kutty” to be yet another hero-centric subject, Dhanush assures otherwise. “Shriya has a substantial role. It's far removed from her glamorous image though. Working with her was fun. She comes up with interesting questions and is keen on learning.”
About “Aadu Kalam” that's now underway, Dhanush says, “The film is set in Madurai. It's about a certain lifestyle. There's a rawness in the portrayal. I don't want to divulge too much.”

Cool and candid, the actor is not ruffled by media speculation about the clash of the brothers this Pongal. “Selva's film and mine belong to completely different genres. Each has its own USP. So I don't understand the basis of such guesswork. It's a happy moment for us.
Pongal is holiday time. So, the more the number of films, the merrier. Besides, both of us are mature enough to handle such speculation.”
