Why are you seen only on the small screen?

I do get big screen offers every other day. But the roles don't satisfy the actor in me. When today's heroines themselves do not have much work in a film, how can I expect good roles? I have acted in nearly 125 films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. I have played the heroine in as many as 73 films. So if the roles offered to me don't have substance, I decline them politely.

Are you happy with the response you get on the small screen?

Yes. From my first serial “Krishnadasi” to the latest “Madhavi”, my performances have been appreciated. It's a pleasure working here.

Tell us something about your family.

I lead a contented life. I have twins — my daughter is a lawyer and son, a Chartered Accountant. I am proud of them.

What differences do you perceive between the small and the big screen?

Not much as far as acting is concerned. To me, acting on the small screen is like working in a Malayalam film. Less people around you; the atmosphere is comfortable to work in; and the reception is big.
