Kuyili

Introduced as a heroine in Poovilangu, you became more popular with the song ‘Nila Adhu Vanathu Melae' in Nayagan . Why didn't you continue to play heroine?

I wanted to continue as a heroine after coming up with good performances in some films. Unfortunately, I didn't get the right opportunity.

Does the industry recognise talent?

I was introduced by a big banner after it was convinced I could pull off the role of heroine successfully. However, I did not get enough work after my debut. This clearly shows the industry does not recognise talent.

You are often seen on the small screen. Do you feel you haven't got your due in films?

I do not regret anything in life at this point of my career. I used to tell myself that Lady Luck didn't favour me. However, I'm getting challenging roles on the small screen today. And I'm happy people appreciate my performance.

How different are the small and the big screen?

Small screen: continuous work, good roles and correct payment. This gives satisfaction.

Big screen: I am yet to get all these here.

What do you feel prevents people from making use of your talent in films?

It puzzles me. Because the same people who appreciate my performance on telly don't offer me work in movies. A hassle-free artist, I report for shoots on time, dub my lines and don't use make-up.
