A project undertaken by Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers' Association (TPWA) to screen some of the renowned classical movies from across the globe for Tirupur audience is gaining in popularity over a period.
On Sunday, Oscar award winning Italian film ‘Life is Beautiful' with English sub-titles was screened at the K.R.C. City Centre Hall that captivated the viewers.
The 1997-film directed by Roberto Benigini tells the story of Jewish-Italian who employed his fertile imagination to help his family during their internment in a Nazi concentration camp.

“Our aim is to give an opportunity to people who are interested in watching some of the great movies of this sort which might never be shown by the cinema hall owners in Tirupur citing lack of its commercial value,” said P.R. Ganesan, president, TPWA (Tirupur North wing).
Interestingly, the movies were shown free of cost at periodic intervals at different venues. “This is to rejuvenate the public interest in the segment across the city,” Mr. Ganesan said.
Apart from full length feature films, world famous documentary films on social and environmental issues were also being shown by the TPWA in various hamlets.
