Starring Nandha Durairaj and Abhirami Venkatchalam in the lead, the series is tipped to be a crime-thriller

When you hear actor Nandha Durairaj’s name, the image of him in a crisp khaki uniform is probably what comes to your mind. Having reprised the role of a cop on the silver screen right from his début Vellore Maavattam to more recent flicks like Thaanaa Serndha Koottam , Nandha is back to donning the khaki — this time for the digital platform. He plays Inspector David Viktor in the web-series Iru Dhuruvam, which was launched on Monday. The first season of the crime series written and directed by M Kumaran is out on SonyLIV. Produced for Applause Entertainment by Pramod Cheruvalath’s Sign of Life Productions, Iru Dhuruvam is the first Tamil original series on SonyLIV’s video on demand (VOD) platform.

For Nandha, this is his third web-series and he is in love with the medium. “Web-series can bring multiple genres and variety to consumers. The market for web-series is developing now. Big names are getting into this. Director Gautham Menon is also working on one,” he said. About how different the platform is when compared to movies, he said, “A web-series is more challenging because you need to make every episode engaging, unlike a three-hour-long movie. You need to keep the viewer hooked.” Abhirami Venkatachalam of
