Shruthi Naidu, who directs the latest serial Yaare Nee Mohini for Zee Kannada, has been directing serials for the last nine years for the channel. She says she never felt she was in a man’s world and it sounds clichéd when she is asked that question.

In fact, Shruthi adds that it has been a wonderful creative field where she has had the opportunity to work with “lovely artistes and technicians”. She has, in the past, directed many family dramas and later “plunged into making devotional series like Devi and Mahadevi ”. The latter, says Shruthi, was a socio-mythological drama.

The director says she was excited when she was offered to direct

Yaare Nee Mohini as it “is a proper horror story. Normally, people are scared of the paranormal. That excited me as the challenge was to come up with an effective story even though you know the viewer has the control in his/her hands while watching it. So we came up with a powerful storyline and have kept the horror aspect as low key as possible,” she states.

The audience can look forward to a different depiction of an evil force, she assures and adds, “While such forces are shown as destructive powers, we have a Mohini, who does good. She is helpful and kind and will not scare the children but enthral them. We have used special effects too and technology, which was possible only because of the channel’s support.”

Yaare Nee Mohini will premières this evening at 7.30 pm on Zee Kannada.
