Actor Amala Paul has tweeted that her film 'Aadai' will finally release on Friday evening, after the morning and afternoon shows were cancelled due to financial issues.

She shared a poster reading, "After facing all the curse words, slut shaming, character assassinations, misogyny and KDM issues, it will release across 700+ screens worldwide."

Aadai rode on immense hype with the posters and promotions before D-Day, but ultimately, fell prey to the trend of last-minute delay on the day of release.

Joining the list of several recent films that have faced stumbling blocks on a Friday (Vijay Sethupathi’s Sindhubaadh being an example) all the morning and afternoon shows of the movies were cancelled on July 19. The PR team for the project cites ‘financial issues’ as the reason, and it is still unclear if the film will be released on Friday as per scheduled. Fans waiting to watch the movie have to be patient and wait for more news as of now.

The film has faced opposition for its controversial content in the trailers and posters that shows a naked Amala trying to escape from a secluded location. The film is directed by Rathna Kumar of

Meyaadha Maan fame. The cinematography is by Vijay Karthik Kannan, while the music is composed by singer Pradeep Kumar’s band Oorga.
