Dastkar Nature Bazaar, which has a considerable following in Bangalore, is back with its eighth edition from August 5 to 14. Over 100 crafts groups from 19 States will participate.
As always, visitors will get to choose from various kinds of weaves, block prints, embroideries, furniture, garments, footwear, home accessories, gift items, folk art and toys. From decorative Rajasthani jootis to tribal jewellery from Orissa, from Banarasi silk saris or those from Bhagalpur to stoles and shawls from Kutch and Uttarakhand, cane furniture from Assam and Kantha embroideries from West Bengal, and even Madhubani and Phad paintings — there is something for everyone at Dastkar. Also on offer at the stalls are organic food stuffs and herbal products such as soaps and oils.
The bazaar will also have ongoing performances throughout the day, which include the ever popular Rajasthani puppet show and Kacchi Ghodi and Manipuri dhol cholam and stick.

A highlight this year will be workshops on traditional clay modelling and bead products from Gujarat, Madhubani painting and painting on papier-mâché from Bihar, products from recycled waste from Maharashtra and Orissa, and jewellery from Rajasthan. Dastkar Nature Bazaar will be held at the Palace Grounds, Gayatri Vihar, from August 5 to 14 between 11 a.m. and 8.30 p.m.
