Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on two fronts, asking why Mr. Modi had not spoken out against the recent killings of Indians in the United States and on unfulfilled promises made in 2014.
Speaking at a party workers’ convention, organised by the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee at Ramlila Maidan here, Mr. Gandhi hit out at the Prime Minister for his silence on the attacks on Indians in the U.S.
In the past two weeks, three Indians have been attacked in suspected hate crimes.

“Narendra Modi has a 56 inch chest, doesn’t he? Tell me why then does Narendra Modi not say a word when our people are being killed in America...He went and hugged Obama, but when our people get killed there, our Prime Minister says nothing. The Prime Minister of India is scared,” said Mr. Gandhi. Earlier in his address, he accused Mr. Modi of indulging in “politics of lies,” listing unfulfilled promises the BJP had made to voters in the 2014 Lok Sabha poll campaign.
