Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who has been campaigning relentlessly since the start of the elections, cancelled her one-day Maharashtra tour on Sunday, citing health reasons.
Party sources told The Hindu that Ms. Gandhi needed a break as she had a sore throat. The Congress president was to address rallies in Mumbai, Dhule and Nandurbar in north Maharashtra on Sunday ahead of the last phase of the Lok Sabha election in the State on Thursday.
Now, party vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar will address the Mumbai rally, while actor-politician Raj Babbar and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will address the other rallies on her behalf, Congress sources said.

Ms. Gandhi has not visited Mumbai yet in the run-up to the elections whereas BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi held a rally in the city.
Ms. Gandhi’s rally was supposed to be the Congress-NCP combine’s show of strength in the city.
