The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Friday demanded the resignation of Prasoon Joshi, the chief of the Central Bureau of Film Certification, for allegedly giving special treatment to the biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“As per the rule, the producers have to submit the final copy of the film 58 days before the film’s release date. Why was special treatment given to the biopic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi?” asked Ameya Khopkar, president, MNS’ film wing. Mr. Khopkar said that the film's shooting was on till March 22. “We condemn the Censor Board which went out of its way only for this film in order to appease the government. Prasoon Joshi should immediately resign from his post for his actions,” said Mr. Khopkar.

Actor Vivek Oberoi, who is playing Mr. Modi’s character in the film, and the movie's producer Sandip Singh announced on Friday night via Twitter that the movie is set to release on April 11.
”Thank you to each and every one of you for your blessings, love and support. Thank you to the Indian Judiciary. We hope you like the film and that it inspires you all! #PMNarendraModi Jai Hind,” tweeted Mr. Oberoi announcing the release date on film's poster.
A questionnaire sent to Mr. Joshi as to whether all procedures were followed while giving certification to the film went unanswered.
