Acting on a complaint against a police constable in Nanjangud for campaigning for the BJP on Facebook, district election officials have asked Superintendent of Police Amit Singh to inquire into the matter and submit a report at the earliest.
According to the complaint, traffic constable Nanjundaraje Urs has allegedly been supporting the BJP and reportedly campaigning for the party through Facebook.
The complainant has also accused the constable of visiting villages familiar to him and appealing to people to vote for BJP. The constable was accused of campaigning for the BJP even during the bypolls to the Assembly from Nanjangud in 2017.

The constable is alleged to have opened a Facebook account in the name of Deepak Urs and supporting BJP leader B.S. Yeddyurappa besides sharing posts favouring Narendra Modi and the BJP. The complainant has also accused the constable of being a follower of the BJP for several years and made out a case for his dismissal from service.
The Additional Secretary, State Election Commission, Karnataka, had reportedly written a letter with regard to the complaint and the district election authorities had to submit a report in the matter to the Election Commission of India.
Hence, the district election officials have asked the Superintendent of Police to inquire into the matter and submit his recommendation to the district election officer.
