Security stepped up for PM’s rally

A thick security blanket has been thrown around the city on Tuesday for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election rally ahead of the final phase of election in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Heavy security deployment has been done in and around Jammu city for Prime Minister’s rally”, a senior police officer said.

The area around the venue of the rally at M A M Stadium has been sealed and no traffic has been allowed in the area.

All the entry and exit points in the city have been sealed.

“Traffic on the highway, which passes through Jammu city has been diverted through Sidhra bypass”, he said.

Mr. Modi is scheduled to address rallies in Sangaid-Mandli area of Billawar Assembly segment in Kathua district and M A M Stadium in Jammu city.

In the fifth and final phase of polls, 20 Assembly constituencies in the three districts of Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri will go to polls on December 20.

The results will be declared on December 23.
