Ravichandran Ashwin picked up four wickets to lead India to a comprehensive innings and 239 run victory over Sri Lanka in the second Test at Nagpur.

The margin of victory is India’s largest in Test cricket, also achieved against Bangladesh in 2007.

With these four wickets, Ashwin became the fastest to reach the 300-wicket milestone, beating Dennis Lillee’s 36-year-old record.

While Lillee took 56 matches to reach the mark, Ashwin managed it in just 54 Tests.

Aussies go 1-0 up in Ashes

David Warner and Cameron Bancroft put on an unbeaten 173-run stand for the opening wicket in the second innings as Australia won the first Ashes Test against England by 10 wickets.

Barca maintain four-point gap

In a match that further highlighted the need for goal-line technology, Barcelona scored a late equaliser against Valencia through Jordi Alba to maintain the four-point lead over their opponents atop the La Liga standings.

The first half of the match saw Lionel Messi’s goal wrongly disallowed as the referee failed to see it bounce past the goal-line.

PSG build nine point lead

Paris Saint-Germain defeated champions Monaco 2-1 with goals from Edinson Cavani and a penalty from Neymar. The victory saw them move nine points clear atop Ligue 1.
