TVS Motor sales rise 4% in January

Firm’s total exports rise 23%

TVS Motor Company, a two and three-wheeler maker, registered 4% growth in sales during January, selling 2.83 lakh units against 2.72 lakh units in the year-earlier period.

During January 2019, overall sales of two-wheelers grew 2% from 2.63 lakh to 2.69 lakh units. In the domestic market, the firm sold 2.29 lakh two-wheelers against 2.27 lakh units.

In the scooter segment, it sold 85,299 units against 85,521 units. Motorcycle sales rose 13% to 1.11 lakh units against 98,649 units.

Total exports grew 23% to 52,650 units from 42,802 units. Two-wheeler exports rose 13% to 40,623 units from 36,003 units. Sales of three-wheelers grew 52% to 13,353 units.
