Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited Director (Commercial) T.K. Chand has been appointed Chairman-cum-Managing Director of National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO).
In a brief interview with The Hindu, he said that he would lay emphasis on product diversification and take up expansion project of the NALCO. He said he would initiate measures for globalisation of operations of the Navratna company.
The NALCO is a Bhubaneswar-headquartered public sector company with integrated and diversified operations in mining, metal and power and with a turnover of Rs.7,024 crore during 2013-14.

Mr. Chand will take charge on July 27. The Department of Personnel issued the appointment order on Tuesday evening. Mr. Chand, 55, earlier served as the Director of Central Coalfields Limited. He began his career in the RINL as a management trainee in 1983.
He rejoined the RINL as a Director on September 22, 2010. The Public Enterprises Selection Board recommended his name for appointment as CMD of the NALCO in November last year after short-listing 11 candidates.
Mr. Chand played a key role in marketing various products of the RINL mainly to make an impact in overseas market by opening International Marketing Office in Colombo. He also took the initiative to increase sales in domestic market by strengthening retail network.

He promoted ‘Brand Vizag’ in his capacity as the zonal chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry and Computer Society of India.
