Young, anxious and curious teenagers were talking business at Glendale Academy the previous weekend, discussing with investors of a firm’s valuation, market share and distribution channels. They had come together for the final round of a 20-week-long session that opened them to the life of an entrepreneur and the importance of starting young.
From the model of a trash compactor for communities to a soccer game intertwined with chess and retelling history through a board game, the event was a celebration of novel ideas and a testimony to the fact that age was only a number. The investor panel featuring Brahmani, Executive Director of Heritage Foods, artist Dia Bhupal, NATCO pharmaceuticals’ CEO Rajeev and Salman Babukhan had evaluated the participants of session in parameters like effort, presentation and execution.
Among the interesting business ideas put forward by the youngsters-included Psygeio, a portable robotics kit that enabled one to ready a mobile cooler, a smartphone projector to name a few. Pawssion, cited as a platform that would connect pet breeders to potential customers impressed as well.

A glimpse of the confidence that the participants had was the pre-teen student behind ‘Smart Content’, ideated as a platform to connect scriptwriters to movie producers, talked of not revealing more information about his business owing to confidentiality. The other ideas included a USB-enabled portable coolant, fashionable shoes for teens with flat foot, a device to store and cut better and an app to avoid queues to eat at your favourite eatery in airports.“That teenagers of diverse backgrounds came together and held their own on the stage was the motive behind the event. We’re planning to host the second season of YEA in Hyderabad soon,” added Namita Thapar, the founder of the initiative. The winners of the event would be partially funded for their ventures soon.
