Wall Street slides again on Greece worries

Lingering concerns about a Greek government debt default and the impact on the euro common currency sent major U.S. stock indices slipping into the red on Friday.

The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 162.79 points, or 1.51 per cent, to 10,620.16. The broader Standard and Poor’s 500 Index fell 21.76 points, or 1.88 per cent, to 1,135.68. The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index plummeted 47.51 points, or 1.98 per cent, to 2,346.85.

The US currency soared against the euro to 80.92 euro cents from 79.79 euro cents on Thursday. The dollar slipped against the Japanese currency to 92.47 yen from 92.75 yen.
