Silver up by Rs 450; gold rises by Rs 140

Silver prices today moved up by Rs 450 to Rs 27,150 per kg in the bullion market here on emergence of buying by stockists for the ongoing marriage season amid firming global trend.

Meanwhile, gold gained Rs 140 at Rs 16,190 per 10 gram.

Marketmen said trading sentiment turned bullish in the domestic bullion market, which generally moves in tandem with the global market, due to firming trend overseas.

Besides, stockists buying for the ongoing marriage season mainly boosted the trading sentiment, they said.

Gold in Asia closed higher at 1,063.50 dollars an ounce against the previous level of 1,053.30 dollars an ounce.

Silver ready also rose by Rs 450 to Rs 27,150 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 510 to Rs 27,260 per kg. Silver coins also rose by Rs 200 to Rs 32,900 for buying and Rs 33,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

Standard gold and ornaments shot up by Rs 140 each to Rs 16,190 and Rs 16,040 per 10 gram respectively, while sovereign gained Rs 75 at Rs 13,000 per piece of eight gram.
