Hyderabad-based digital marketing company Lycos Internet Ltd. will soon be working with Yahoo! in geographies beyond the U.S. The firm is also re-working modalities to revive and re-introduce the Apollo Lycos NetCommerce joint venture, ‘Aply’, which was stalled due to initial glitches.
Speaking to The Hindu, Suresh Reddy, CEO and chairman, Lycos Internet, said, “We’ve been working with Yahoo! on [the] ad and publishing segments in the U.S. Now, our partnership will expand in several countries. “We tested waters in a few markets this fiscal and we may go deeper into east Asian countries. India is also one among the countries [in which we are planning] for expansion.”

‘Revenue potential’

According to sources, the partnership with Yahoo! has potential to earn double-digit additional revenue for Lycos, which works on customer engagement, feedback and measurement for global corporates on platforms such as Yahoo!, Facebook, Twitter and MSN.
The firm is also reviving its joint venture with tyre manufacturer and commodity trading company Apollo International Ltd. The JV, Apollo Lycos NetCommerce, was conceived in 2015 to offer website design and e-commerce services.
“We had some issues in taking the project forward. Apollo comes from a logistics mindset and Lycos has a digital mindset. But we are re-working the strategy. We will be relaunching it next year,” said Mr. Reddy. The firm earns 40% of revenues from North America and 17% each from Europe and South America.
