Cyient picked for Liberty Global’s ‘GIGAWorld’

International cable TV and broadband company Liberty Global has selected IT firm Cyient to support its ‘GIGAWorld’ initiative that seeks to provide broadband speeds of one gigabit and more to millions of homes households across Europe. Cyient said it would deploy its capabilities in delivering FTTP (fibre-to-the-premise) and HFC (hybrid-fibre coaxial) planning and design services to Liberty Global.

About 50 million homes in Europe have access to Liberty Global’s fibre-based ‘GIGAReady’ networks and the company is aiming at adding expects millions more to be added, a release from Cyient said.

Managing director (access network) of Liberty Global Colin Buechner said with Cyient, “we hope to enhance and expand our networks so they become not only faster but also more resilient and responsive to the evolving needs of our customers.”

Cyient managing director and chief executive officer CEO Krishna Bodanapu said with over 25 years of experience in network management and operations, the company is well placed to provide data-driven designs for Liberty Global’s footprint expansion programme.
