Sankalp, a centre that helps children with learning disabilities, is going in for partnership arrangements with select corporates in specific sectors to impart vocational training.
Initially, it is planning tie-ups in retail, information technology and hospitality sectors.
Such tie-ups, it is argued, would help these ‘special children’ to get hands-on training at work environment. The rationale for such arrangements is to improve their employability.

Sankalp has set up a separate division to facilitate vocational training. The objective is to create a simulated environment for vocational training and develop special training material suited for the cognitive challenged. As part of this exercise, the centre has also launched a couple of software and devices. These are essentially aimed at effective communication and learning. Informed learning information system is developed in-house to support the implementation of individual learning management. It is now being tested for scalability. Once the scalability issue is sorted out, it would be offered to other needy organisations, sources said. The centre has also introduced AWAZ.
It is an augmented and alternative communication device, and developed by IIT Madras.
