e-commerce company mjunction services ltd, a joint venture of Steel Authority of India Ltd and Tata Steel, has announced the launch of an online shopping platform, straightline.in.

mjunction Managing Director Viresh Oberoi said credibility would be one of the biggest strengths of this initiative. Drive India Enterprise Solution Ltd (DIESL), a Tata enterprise, would deliver the goods at the doorsteps of the consumer, addressing one of the key concern areas of an online shopper.

He expected the technology to be one of the main differentiators of this platform from the existing ones. “That is the reason why we have partnered IBM and Cognizant. While the scalable infrastructure has been developed by Cognizant, the websphere e-commerce suite of IBM has been used. The platform is integrated with SAP ERP for billing, invoicing, payments and refunds,” he said.

Plans

He said, at present, mjunction would stay away from online travel business since it felt that the market was saturated now but it might take a call on this later. He said that having made a debut in B2C business, plans were afoot to launch a C2C business through an online auction system by December.
