India Cements appoints Dhoni as Vice-President

Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been appointed Vice-President of The India Cements Ltd. (ICL)

Until recently, Mr. Dhoni was an employee of the national carrier Air India.

N. Srinivasan, Vice-Chairman of ICL, told this correspondent that it had been the character of the company to employ cricketers. “We have been doing it for long,” he said. In this context, he pointed to Rahul Dravid. The former captain of Indian cricket team has been a long-serving employee of The India Cements. To a query, Mr. Srinivasan said sportsmen required security post their playing careers.

ICL is the owner of the IPL (Indian Premier League) team Chennai Super Kings, and Mr. Dhoni has been its captain since the first edition of IPL.

In the wake of his induction into the company, Mr. Dhoni has also been included in The India Cements’ squad for corporate tournament of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).
