Ford India said it would earmark $250,000 to improve health, safety and education among communities surrounding its manufacturing facility at Maraimalainagar, near here.

The initiative named ‘Operation Goodwill' would focus on seven villages in the vicinity of its factory. The initiative will be run in partnership with three non-government organisations.

According to Michael Boneham, President and Managing Director of Ford India, this is the first time that the car maker is having any direct engagement with NGOs.
