Carlsberg expands base

The Indian arm of Danish brewer Carlsberg, Carlsberg India Ltd., on Thursday, announced the acquisition of a brewery in Dharuhera in Haryana.

At present, the Haryana unit has a production capacity of 1.50 lakh hectolitres, with a potential to expand further to five lakh hectolitres.

The company has also laid the foundation for a new facility, seventh in India, in Patna, Bihar. Work on this five-lakh-hectolitres unit will be completed by the end of 2013, according to a company statement.

Indian facilities

All brands — Carlsberg, Carlsberg Elephant, Tuborg Green, Tuborg Strong and Palone 8 — will be brewed in the Indian facilities.

At present, Carlsberg has breweries in Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
