A.S. Basu takes over as CPCL managing director

The 58-year-old Mr.Basu, who has over three decades of professional experience in refinery operations and management in IOC, assumed charge as CPCL managing director

A.S.Basu, Executive Director (Operations), Refinery Headquarters of Indian Oil Corporation, is the new managing director of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (CPCL).

The 58-year-old Mr.Basu, who has over three decades of professional experience in refinery operations and management in IOC, assumed charge as CPCL managing director on Friday, a press release said.

A chemical engineer from Jadavpur University, West Bengal, Mr.Basu, also served in diverse capacities in IOC’s Mathura and Haldia refineries. His cross functional exposure would help him extract value from across the hydrocarbon value chain in the downstream, which is invaluable, especially in difficult market conditions, said the release from CPCL, which is a group company of IOC.
